Travel Information
Getting there
By plane
Dresden can be reached directly through its international airport with direct bus and train connections to downtown. A good alternative is the airport in Berlin that can be reached by train within 90 minutes (select "Flughafen BER" and "Dresden Hbf" for start and final destination). Berlin offers much more connections (typically at a lower price). Other alternatives are the airports near Leipzig or in Prague. These take somewhat more time for traveling to Dresden but could be useful in some cases.
By train
Dresden has two main train stations. The one closer to the venue and to downtown is "Hauptbahnhof". We recommend traveling with Deutsche Bahn and adding some extra time to the proposed travel duration.
By bus
Flixbus is the major provider for bus trips to Dresden from and to nearer destinations within Europe. Somewhat cheaper than train, it might be less comfortable at some point. Anyway, essentially all busses start or end near the main train station.
By car
Several major highways from Leipzig, Chemnitz, Berlin, Prague, or Wrocław meet near Dresden.
Currency
The national currency is Euro. Credit cards are accepted in most places but it is recommended to carry some cash for streetfood, beergardens or restaurants in more remote places (when hiking, for instance).
